In September 2011, I was fortunate enough to take one of the most important trips of my entire life. My good friend Michael Pertnoy reached out to me to be the director of photography of a documentary project for a non for profit in Uganda. Truth be told, when I embarked on this journey, I didn't realize the lasting impact that this shoot would have on my life. Anyone that knows me personally and has spoken to me about that trip, knows truly how much that trip has affected my life. It give me a different and unique perspective on everything. The stories are endless and those 16 days changed my life forever. Of all the incredible experiences, the one chapter of the trip that really touched my soul was my interaction with all the children in a rural school. Without getting into specific details (I am more than happy to talk about it in person), they face challenges on a daily basis that we could never even imagine. When I arrived back, I immediately wanted to do everything in my power to help and have been doing so for the last few years. Recently, I had the strong urge to do more. I felt like I personally hadn't done enough & began brainstorming. Fortunately, I am a part of an incredible organization in Merge SOCIAL. We bring a lot of love & great work to the community & the clients that we serve. As a team, we wanted to do the same beyond just this. We dug deep and decided as an organization, to donate a portion of our proceeds to the Children Of Uganda organization. We plan to do this for the unforeseeable future and hope we can maintain this pledge forever. We couldn't be more proud to do it.

The Children Of Uganda is a non for profit organization that provides school fees, clothing, nutritious food, and access to basic medical care for hundreds of children in the Rakai, Mukono, and Kampala districts of Uganda. I have personally been in these regions and know exactly from personal experience what this means to these children.

As many of you know, I'm a pretty reserved person. I prefer to not really showcase or speak about my charitable efforts but feel this is a golden opportunity to hopefully inspire others & consider doing the same. Nothing would make us more proud to know we have inspired others to follow a similar path.

Thank you,

Julien Diaz
